Mother’s Day Gifts

Mom, she carried us for 9 months and took care of us in every step of our lives.  If your mom is anything like mine, she always put herself last for the benefit of the family.  And only when you get older do you really appreciate everything she’s done for you.  I used to think Mother’s Day wasn’t a real holiday, but the truth is, there really is so much meaning to it.  We never really celebrated Mother’s Day in my family, but now that I’m married, my in-laws have a luncheon every year, and its really nice to celebrate all the moms.  So I have put together a gift guide, no matter what your mom likes.  Mother’s day is a day for her to be first, so pamper her and show her how much you love her.

The Coffee-Loving Mom

My mom is a big coffee drinker and while she might drink her morning coffee out of necessity, she loves her afternoon cup.

My mom loves lattes, but who has time to make one like the pros?  I recently got a Verismo™Machine from Starbucks, and it is the perfect gift for mom.

I call it my mini barista.  The lattes are amazing, creamy and delicious!

From their website: “The Verismo™ System brings all your favorite Starbucks® beverages home, with uncompromising quality and push-button simplicity..”

How does it work?  You buy Milk Pods and Espresso Pods from Starbucks.

The Milk Pods:

“Sealed fresh inside is an ultra-fine milk powder created only from real dairy milk. Once placed in the machine, it becomes creamy, sweet and perfectly steamed milk—just right for a Starbucks® Caffè Latte.”

The Espresso Pods:

“The same espresso and decaf espresso we use in our handcrafted Caffè Lattes. Verismo™ uses Swiss engineered high-pressure technology to bring out all the rich, caramelly sweet flavors you love.”

Some other drinks you can make with it:

  • Vanilla Latte (1 Tbsp. vanilla syrup, Milk pod, Espresso pod)
  • Caffè Mocha (1 Tbsp. mocha sauce, Milk pod, Espresso pod)
  • Caramel Macchiato (2 tsp. vanilla syrup*, Milk pod, Espresso pod, drizzle/2 tsp. caramel sauce)
  • Hot Cocoa (1 envelope Starbucks® Hot Cocoa Mix, 2 Milk pods)

Don’t worry you can make regular coffee too, and they have a subscription service.  The best part, it makes the latte is less than a minute!  It’s delicious!

The Makeup-Loving Mom

I love makeup, but sometimes buying new makeup is expensive, so why not give a great makeup palette as a gift?  I’m loving this one from NARS.

  • Biarritz, Nepal, New York and Galapagos eyeshadows – Amour Blush – Laguna Bronzer
  • Dolce Vita Lip Gloss
  • Chinatown Nail Polish

It just came out on May 1st and is limited edition, so its not your cookie cutter palette.  It is perfect for every mom to throw into her bag!

The New Mom!

New moms need sleep and some pampering.  Why not get them either a spa day, or an at-home spa treatment?

My favorite is the Bliss Triple Oxygen facial, and this way you can get her a few at-home treatments instead for the same price as a one-time spa appointment.  If you really want to spoil her, get both! 🙂

For the Wine-Loving Mom

This one is easy!  Get her a membership to a wine club and she’ll remember you with every sip! There are so many to choose from.

Zagat, Virgin Wines, WSJ all have wine clubs!  Pick either 12 reds, whites or a mixed case,  and you’re done!  Bring a bottle of wine with a pretty wine glass on Mother’s day and tell her she’ll be getting some more in the mail!

No matter what you give, mom will love it, but make sure to bring something!  Hint:  Moms LOVE cards.  Spend a few dollars on a pretty card, tell her how much you care, and it’ll warm up her heart.

Happy Mother’s Day!
