How to Make a Mint Julep & Other Julep Inspired Recipes

Its Derby Day and if you want to watch at home, you have to have a Mint Julep, its the traditional beverage of the derby for almost 100 years!

Mint Julep

What You’ll Need:
2 oz. Bourbon
1/2 oz. Simple Syrup
3 Fresh Mint Leaves
Crushed Ice

Directions:
Rub the mint on the inside the glass. Add Bourbon, simple syrup and crushed ice. Stir. Garnish with fresh mint and more ice.

Cilantro Julep

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz. Patrón Añejo
  • ½ oz. Fresh Lime Juice
  • 1 oz. Pineapple Juice
  • ¼ oz. Amber Agave Nectar
  • 8 Cilantro Leaves

Method: In a mixing glass, muddle cilantro leaves. Add the rest of the ingredients, shake, and strain over fresh ice into a highball glass.

 

Patrón Julep

  • 1 ½ oz. Patrón Silver
  • 3 ¼ oz. apple juice
  • 12 mint leaves
  • ½ oz. freshly squeezed lime juice
  • Lemonade
  • Spring of mint for garnish

 

Method: Muddle mint in a collins glass with lime juice and apple juice. Fill glass with ice, add Patrón Silver, then top with lemonade and stir. Garnish with a fresh sprig of mint.

 

G.H. MUMM Mint Julep

  • 2 oz. GH Mumm Cordon Rouge
  • 1 ½ oz. Absolut Citron Vodka
  • 1 oz. Fresh squeezed lemon juice
  •  ½ oz. simple syrup
  • 1 finger pinch fresh mint

Directions: Pour all ingredients except GH Mumm

Cordon Rouge into a mixing glass. Add ice, cover and

shake vigorously for 7-8 seconds. Pour GH Mumm

Cordon Rouge into a chilled cocktail-martini glass and

pour the cocktail over it.
