I’m working on a segment for FOX Philly on Easter Treats and one of my favorites is this carrot in dirt!
What you’ll need:
- Sugar Cones – I used keebler sugar cones
- Orange Chocolate Melts – I used Wilton Orange Candy Melts
- Orange Funfetti Cake Mix (if you can’t find orange cake mix, you can use white cake mix with equal parts yellow and red food color) – I used Pillsbury
- Orange Funfetti Icing (if you can’t find orange icing, make some with equal parts yellow and red food color) – I made my own, but they sell this one
- Green edible grass – You can buy at any drugstore, or here
- Orange Sugar Crystals – you can get at any partycity
- Crushed Oreo cookies
How to:
1) Melt Orange Candy Melts — you can do this with a double boiler or get a small crock pot. Can also microwave for 30 seconds, mix, 30 seconds, mix, until all are melted.
2) Dip Ice Cream cold into candy melts, then put onto parchment paper, place in fridge for 10-15 min. (just enough for chocolate to harden)
3) Make orange cupcape mix according to the package
4) once cupcakes cool, put inside ice cream cone
5) Add small amount of icing on top
6) dip into orange sugar crystals
7) add edible grass (the more the better)
8) crush up oreo cookies
9) place carrot in a cup into the crushed oreos
