Best Products to Clear Acne

I read an article in the NYTimes about how acne is starting in younger kids.

I never really had a lot of acne growing up, but I did have it as an adult.  I have done extensive internet research on Acne, and there are some things you should know.

1. What kind of ance do you have?  I used to get cystic acne, but maybe you get black heads, or white heads.  Know the type of acne you have, because the more you know, the better you’ll know how to combat it.

2. Where on your face is your acne?  Different zones on your face mean different things.  Did you know that your forehead is all what you eat? The jawline is stress and cheeks is hormonal?

So, what do I recommend?

The secret to my clear skin now is Clinique Acne Bar Soap.  The truth is, a lot of Clinique counters won’t even have it out, but you need to ask for it.   Its $14 for a bar of soap that lasts a good 3-6 months.  It will work wonders.   I’ve heard Clinique has tried to discontinue it, but fanatics like me won’t let them.   It will change your life.

So, go to your bathroom and throw all your face washes away.  Use the Clinique soap, you want to use a toner (witch hazel is fine) after, and then a moisturizer.  I don’t love the Clinique acne moisturizer.  Use something light that won’t clog your pores, I really like Aveeno clear complexion.

Get a clay mask and use it once a week.  If you have an outbreak, use it on your pimples 3 days in a row, just on that area.  I really like the Murad clarifying mask, but have also used a sulfur mask which is nice, smells terrible, but its great to dry out your pimples.  You want to use something with a clay base.

Psst.  If you have a cystic pimple, you know the kind that won’t go away,  put some hydrocortizone cream on it overnight.  Just a dab. It will suck everything out and you will wake up with a white head you can pop.

IF YOU POP A PIMPLE, you MUST use a tool, and you MUST use alcohol after to make sure you got it all.  I would recommend a hot shower so the steam will open it up.

Some DIY.  I’ve tried homeade yogurt maskstumeric,  egg whites on my face,  oatmeal.  You name it, I’ve tried it.   I know it sucks.  One thing I found out, is that I’m allergic to mushrooms, which was really sad, I really like mushrooms, but I also really like clear skin, so write down what you’re eating and see how your face reacts.

Please note, these products worked really well for me, but you should talk to a dermatologist.  Also, I would recommend going to a dermatologist and getting an acne fighting facial.
