I’ve previously written about my passion for burgers so I won’t pretend that I don’t eat meat, however, I am a big advocate of people incorporating more vegetarian and vegan meals into their diet! Eating a diet heavy in meat and especially processed meat can have some seriously negative effects on your health and the planet. The effects of meat production on the environment is palpable: 1,850 gallons of water is used to produce a single pound of beef whereas only 29 gallons of water is needed to produce a pound of vegetables. Not ready to give up meat entirely? That’s ok, me either. An a easy solution to curb the damage is to take part in the Meatless Monday campaign and experiment with some delicious vegetarian and vegan recipes on Mondays! Incorporating more plant based protein into your diet can reduce your risk for health problems like type two diabetes, and it’ll also probably help you save a couple of bucks on dinner as well.
