10 Recipes for National Maple Syrup Day

Maple syrup is one of my favorite ingredients, and by far my favorite sweetener. I use 100% pure maple syrup in my oatmeal, mixed into yogurt with berries and seeds, and to sweeten my smoothies and green tea lattes. Besides being absolutely delicious, research presented at the American Chemical Society indicates that maple syrup has the “potential protective effect” against “neurodegenerative diseases, like Alzheimer’s.” Like with most sweeteners though, you want to be sure not to overdo it. Check out 10 creative recipes with maple syrup below, and whip up a maple pie, sorbet, or cake for your next holiday party!
