Regifting 101

We’ve all done it. Gotten a gift that we have no use for and regifted it. But should we feel guilty about it? No! Well, if you’re doing it with the best intentions.

Sometimes, you got a gift that you knew would suit someone else better than you, or you just don’t have it in your budget to buy everyone a gift.

Here are some of my regifting tips.

Regifting Tips & Etiquette

1) Always regift new, unused products – (should go unsaid)
2) When you open a gift and people are around, make sure you put a note on it that says who gave it to you and who else was around when you opened it (so you’re not regifting to any of the people who saw you opening it)
3) Try not to regift in the same social circles
4) Refifting is ok — especially if you think someone else would like or appreciate the product more than you would
5) Always look for notes/cards inside of the item or under the item
6) Re-wrap the gift. Even if you don’t think the wrapping looks so bad, you should re-wrap it. (Gift bags are ok to reuse but make sure the tag is off)
7) Add to the gift – Maybe someone bought you a bottle of scotch, but you don’t like scotch, buy two scotch glasses, put them in a gift bag with the scotch and you have a great new gift, even if part of it was regifted.
8) Regift an item you think someone else would want, not just an item no one wants
